Sam Kelley was a Democratic Party candidate for Lieutenant Governor of
Massachusetts in 2006, but dropped out on May 25 and planned to join the Deval
Patrick campaign as a volunteer advisor on health care issues.
Biography
Born
on a Kentucky chicken farm, Kelley studied at Murray State University, the
University of Louisville School Of Medicine and Tufts University. He completed
his child psychiatry residency at Harvard Medical School's McLean Hospital. He
is the medical director of the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of
Cruelty to Children and a practicing psychiatrist. Kelley served on the Board
of Advisors of the Human Rights project, worked as a legislative aide to
Congressman Jim McDermott, worked on the Clinton Healthcare Task force and started
his own health care company that he later sold. Kelley is currently the New
England Medical Director for Magellan Health Services. Dr. Kelley appears in
the Boston Globe, New England Cable News, CNN Headline news and other media
outlets as an expert in Child Psychiatry.
